Academic Advising

L&C's Academic Advisement provides individualized enrollment assistance to help you choose the program and courses that best fit your goals.

Our professional, on-campus advisors will meet with you to discuss your education and career plans, past records, college placement test scores, college transcripts and other available resources. Then, you and your advisor will develop an educational outline adapted to your individual needs, abilities and interests. Academic advisors also provide prospective students with general information related to admissions at L&C.
 

New Students

 
If you are starting a degree program for the first time at Lewis and Clark, you will see an academic advisor during My L&C: New Student Orientation, and he or she will help you schedule your first semester of classes. Please see our New Student Checklist for what to do next.
 

Returning  Students

 
Some returning students are required to see an advisor, but all are welcome to schedule an appointment or see an advisor during regular walk-in hours.
 
Who is required to see an advisor?
  • Students registering for math or English for the first time or enrolling into a degree or certificate program. See New Student Checklist.
  • Students in a selective admissions program
  • International students
  • Returning students wishing to change their degree or program
  • Students on academic probation or returning from academic suspension.
  • Athletes (New students who have not completed college-level English or math and who will be participating in one of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II sports are required to complete the Accuplacer College Placement test (CPT) before meeting with an Enrollment Center advisor.)

Talk to an Advisor

  1. Pick a location and check walk-in times (if available) or make an appointment.
    • Godfrey campus, Enrollment Center, BA 1450 | Call for walk-in hours or to make an appointment - (618) 468-5222. Hours are:
    Monday |  8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Unless otherwise noted in the Enrollment Center)
    Tuesday and Wednesday | 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    Thursday and Friday | 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
    • N.O. Nelson Campus, Edwardsville | Available by appointment - (618) 468-5851
    • Macoupin County Community Education Center, Carlinville | Available by appointment - (618) 468-2275
    • Tri-County Community Education Center | Available by appointment - (618) 468-2273
  2. Your active and informed participation in the advising process is important and ensures your understanding of the degree requirements for your program. Returning students should access their student records on BlazerNet and bring:
    • A copy of your L&C college transcript
    • A copy of the your program evaluation
    • A tentative schedule of courses you're considering with the section numbers, days and times
    • A list of question and issues to discuss

Transfer Days

 
Two transfer days are scheduled annually - one in March and one in October. More than 30 college and university representatives meet with transfer students to discuss admission and financial aid information.
