Drafting/CAD Technology
If you are looking for a career in drafting for an engineering, design or architectural firm, L&C’s drafting/CAD technology programs may be just the right choice for you.
With an associate degree or certificate, you can land a good job as a draftsperson with the potential to become a designer.
The program is based on the fundamental theories of engineering graphics with advanced course work specializing in the different drafting occupations. As a drafter, you will be converting abstract ideas into a working design, whether it’s drawing a car part or a small part of a huge piece of factory machinery or rendering architectural designs into stable structures. This means preparing detailed drawings based on rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers, designers, architects, and project leaders; calculating the strength, quality, quantity and cost of materials; and testing and writing technical reports, estimates and specifications.
You'll work in L&C’s industry-standard labs, studying drafting standards and techniques and using sophisticated CAD software, including the most advanced virtual environments of solid modeling and parametric architectural modeling.
