Industrial Pipefitting

Through a partnership with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553, Lewis and Clark has developed an A.A.S. degree and a Certificate of Proficiency (CP) program to meet the changing needs of the Industrial Pipefitting industry.

The Industrial Pipefitting Certificate of Proficiency offers apprentices of Local 553 the opportunity to take classes in pipefitting, plumbing, welding, mechanical blueprint reading and construction math.

The program emphasizes the students' development of a common set of trade skills, as well as the acquisition of critical thinking, communication and problem solving ability.

In addition to the specialized skills courses, students working toward an A.A.S. degree will also take general education courses. The purpose of the A.A.S. degree program is to meet the changing needs of this labor group and to provide the highest level of education possible for employees of the region in plumbing and pipefitting work.
