Liberal Arts

The Lewis and Clark Community College Liberal Arts Division provides students with a solid foundation in the liberal arts as part of a career program, a transfer degree program or to fulfill general education requirements.

The Liberal Arts Division offers Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum in communications, humanities and fine arts, and social and behavioral sciences.  These courses are Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI)-approved to transfer as general education core courses to any public and most private two- and four-year colleges in Illinois.  In addition, the Liberal Arts Division offers a variety of transfer electives.

Classes are offered in anthropology, developmental reading and writing, art, education, English, French, geography, German, history, humanities, literature, music, political science, psychology, sign language, sociology, Spanish, and speech.

There are currently thirty full-time instructors and approximately seventy part-time instructors in the Liberal Arts Division at Lewis and Clark. Our liberal arts faculty is highly qualified and committed to student success in the classroom. Class sizes are small, which enhances the opportunity for student involvement in classroom discussions and activities.
