Greg holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from Eastern Illinois University and a M.L.I.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
Prior to starting at Lewis and Clark in October 2007, Greg was a librarian in the Biomedical Library at the SIUE School of Dental Medicine in Alton.
“I accomplished a complete revamp of services at the SDM Biomedical Library after the retirement of the previous director,” he said. “The opportunity of a new challenge and career advancement,” is what brought him to L&C.
Today, his duties as Assistant Director, Reference Services include collection development, assisting students with research needs, assisting faculty with personal research, technical maintenance of the online catalog and supervising student employees.
“The ‘light bulb’ moments when students realize how much more we can provide them through the library’s resources are my favorite part of the job,” he said. “I enjoy the progressive approach that the library field takes to utilizing current technology, even the social networks, to provide information.”
Greg loves that Lewis and Clark’s smaller learning community allows him to work more closely with students and faculty members than he would be able to otherwise.
Outside of Lewis and Clark, Greg is secretary of ABOB (Alton Band and Orchestra Builders) and president of the American Heritage Craft Guild.
