The
Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), in collaboration with other faculty committees such as the Student Learning Committee and the General Education Assessment Committee, provides valuable opportunities for faculty to enhance their teaching and their students’ learning. Founded in 2002, CETL’s mission and purposes are to support and enable faculty in:
- Making research-based decisions regarding classroom techniques
- Creating methods for assessing student learning
- Pioneering innovative teaching practices
CETL’s EDTR-prefixed courses are designed to improve teaching effectiveness and to engage faculty in exploring and adapting instruction to improve student learning. Courses include classroom, course-level, general education, and program assessment; and courses in online course development and teaching. CETL’s programming also includes workshops and seminars that are most frequently taught by Lewis & Clark faculty and staff who volunteer to teach their colleagues. EDTR courses are approved as courses to meet the requirements for promotion in rank.
